Hive details

Maximum number of hives predicted in the 24-month registration period.
Maximum number of nucleus colonies predicted in the 24-month registration period. NOTE: A nucleus is considered a hive once a second box is added.


If a comprehensive list of all apiary site locations cannot be provided at the time of registration, please note the Australian Honey Bee Industry Code of Practice requirements 5.1d, 5.2 and 5.3 (pertaining to record keeping).


Suitability Check

In the last ten (10) years have you, your business, any director of the business or anyone in a management role been convicted of any of the following (please tick appropriate box):

  • Any offence against the Animal (Brands and Movement) Act 1984, Forest Practices Act 1985, Animal Welfare Act 1993, Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994, Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals (Tasmania) Act 1994, Living Marine Resources Management Act 1995, Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals (Control of Use) Act 1995, Animal Health Act 1995, Inland Fisheries Act 1995, Public Health Act 1997, Plant Quarantine Act 1997, Weed Management Act 1999, Nature Conservation Act 2002, National Parks and Reserves Management Act 2002, Food Act 2003, Primary Produce Safety Act 2011, Biosecurity Act 2019 or corresponding Commonwealth, Territory or State law (including any regulations made any of the said Acts).

Your personal information will be used for the primary purpose for which it is collected, such as communication with beekeepers and apiary emergency responses, and may be disclosed to courts and other agencies authorised to collect it. Personal information will be managed in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act 2004 and may be accessed by the person to whom it relates on request to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania (NRE Tas).

The personal information provided in this form relating to the beekeeping business or activity being carried on by you will be recorded in a public register of registered beekeepers in accordance with the Biosecurity Act 2019 and associated regulations. Please note, under regulation 26 of the Biosecurity Regulations 2022, certain information, such as the name and registration number of a registered entity, and the activities the entity is authorised to undertake, is public information that is kept on a publicly accessible register maintained by the Secretary.
